Alberta Artist Kerstin Maxwell
Kerstin Maxwell is an artist born in Sweden and now living in western Canada. During her high school years she explored her artistry through music lessons in guitar and piano, photography, sewing, woodworking and general art classes. At the age of 14, a woman gave her a special silver ring with two pearls in it. Since then, Kerstin has come to associate the pearl with the miraculous. You will see the pearl next to her signature.
During Kerstin’s years of working as a hairstylist she got to use her knowledge of colour and design. She also took training in Makeup Artistry and serviced clients with her skills.
Nine years ago she joined the Olds Art Club. The club encourages artists by providing classes in different mediums. Twice a year they hold an Art Show & Sale in which Kerstin participates. Kerstin has been the vice-president for several years. Eight years ago she studied drawing and oil painting at Alberta College of Art & Design in Calgary.
In May 2019 Kerstin took a four day workshop with Gary and Kathwren Jenkins in which she learned more about brushwork and colour mixing. Following that, a weekend in November, she was the Featured Artist with the Olds Art Club.
During April of 2021 she participated in PleinAir LIVE in which she was taught composition, working with a limited palette, colour mixing etc.by professional artists; John Pototschnik, John MacDonald, George Gallo, C.W Mundy, and more. Presently she offers classes in how to approach painting for the purpose of Play, Meditation or Art.
Stefan Baumann is now her coach and she engages with the classes he creates through Patreon, work shops, and book club (Stefan Baumann's Ultimate Field Guide To Plein Air Painting) https://www.stefanbaumann.com/
