I recently came across a quote that expressed something like this: “When you are on the journey towards Home, no distance is too long”. What is your experience of this? For my part, I say it is so. What defines Home? Well, you tell me. It is as unique as you are. For some, it is the physical place, about geography, that answers the question “Where is home?” For me, it is just as much, if not more, about Who. Who do I feel at home with?

Life has just introduced another person into my life, a really important person, the Someone Special my son Kevin has chosen to journey through life with. Her name is Gloria, and she has blessed us also by choosing my son.
Since I realized that Gloria is the one we have been hoping and praying for, I have been living in gratitude and saying Thank You.
Safety and Belonging were taken away from Gloria as a child. Life proved to be less than stable. But despite that, I see a beautiful soul who is willing and able to love.
What I wish for Gloria is a sense of Homecoming as she becomes part of our family. I hope she will be able to exhale, embrace our acceptance of her, and feel safe, loved, and supported.
I would love to convey this idea and feeling of Homecoming through my paintings. I wish upon the viewer of my art to feel the release of tension and have any worries or concerns replaced by Hope, in the knowing that all will be okay. And no matter what life brings, you will never be alone.
“When you come home here,
May all the weight of the world fall from your shoulders.
May your heart be tranquil here”
